After successfully launching two portals in 2006, the educative center anticipates to continue increasing its network of portals within the next months.

The university center La Salle of Barcelona, founder member of the Ramon Llull University, has developed network portals to promote its educative supply using the solutions of Polymita Technologies. Up to now, the portals that have been publicized are destined to university degrees and master studies, both have received with very good reception. Within the coming months, La Salle plans to launch two new portals, one is destined to the International Bachelor Program and another one to the different university departments.

“This project responds to two objectives” Fco. Javier Ancín, Technical Software director of the Campus La Salle explains. The first one is to allow each department to manage its contents in an independent way, and the second one is to implant a content manager which is able to develop the necessities of our organisation at the same time.

For the network portals development and management Campus La Salle uses Polymita CollagePortal®, a powerful solution for the enterprise portals management that includes content management, document management, users and permissions management, collaboration tools, personalization and facilities for the application integration. The solution was implanted at the Campus La Salle at the end of 2005. The first portal, which was destined to the architecture and engineering university degrees was launched in March 2006. Few months later, in July 2006, the second portal with specific contents for the masters programs was published.

The inscription period for the 2006-2007 course was decisive to evaluate the operation of both portals. During these dates more than 3,000 students used them to consult the study program and to select subjects and schedules that most suited them. “During the inscription period we made an exhaustive monitoring process which allowed us quickly correct the incidents that appeared, “comments Mr Aneín.

“We are satisfied with the results obtained with Polymita CollagePortal®, particularly with the rapidity of development, the capacity to syndicate contents, the usability improvements and the appearance that the solution offers to our portals. We have also affirmed a greater autonomy for the responsible departments regarding to the portals content that need less and less support from the software services center.”
