The ITWorldEdu award with Polymita BPM-Suite, category “Platforms for virtual communication”, went to "Virtual Tutor" project

The ITWorldEdu award for the best education technology solution, tools and category “Platforms for virtual communication”, went to Pilar Soto´s project "Virtual Tutor". The award, a free license of Polymita BPM-Suite ® Entry Edition, was presented on October 31 under the ITWorldEdu 2008, the first meeting point towards excellence in educational technology, recently held in Barcelona.

Pilar Soto´s "virtual tutor" project has emerged as the winner of ITWorldEdu 2008 award, the best educational technology solution in the tools and virtual communication category. The ITWorldEdu 2008 awards were held under the ITWorldEdu 2008 framework, the first meeting point towards the excellence in educational technology, which took place on 29 - 31 October at ESADEFÓRUM in Barcelona.

The winning ITWorldEdu award project in the tools and virtual communication category, "Virtual Tutor" is an educational platform in Moodle with a support of videoconferencing, voice messaging service, online collaborative whiteboard and digital tablet. The platform is directed at pre-school and primary school students and conceived as a learning environment through multimedia activities. Also, "Virtual Tutor" offers the opportunity to give private lessons at arranged hours through voice messaging, video conferencing, an interactive whiteboard and a digital tablet. When choosing the project, the jury took into account such factors as: the rigor and technical processing on the project description, the integration of educational and technological dimensions or the originality and innovative nature of the tool developed. Its author, Pilar Soto, will receive the award, a free license of Polymita BPM-Suite ® Entry Edition this afternoon.

Polymita BPM-Suite ® Entry Edition is a suite of applications for Business Process Management (BPM), which allows any organization to automate and manage processes, organizing the people team work, as well as the related documents and information. The award allows the automation of up to 3 key processes within the educational or administrative environment. The other award categories are: tools and applications for didactic teaching practice, tools for improving organizational and administrative management.
